History

The original 80's Flashback performed in Sydney in the early 90's for a number of years. They performed in venues up and down the east coast, often making a south coast run for New Years Eve. Some of the most memorable venues were The General Bourke, Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel, Castle Hill Tavern, Manly Pacific , and Jacks on King (Newcastle) to name a few. Some of you may remember them.

The members of the original band were Matthew Hollier, Sandy Lo Monarco, Scott Barter, Andrew Kobylinksi, and Wayne Curran. We had a few changes over those years with John Ireland, Ned Kulasin and Geoff Van Dragt coming on board as other members moved on. There were also some ring ins from time to time when one of us couldn't make it. They were Matt Markavino and a humble drummer by the name of Adam Church.

The last performance was the 23rd of November 1996.

Around 1998 it was thought about again but it never happened. A couple of years later it was tried again, but after a few rehearsals the plugged was pulled again.

Eight years after the final show, the 80’s Flashback were back once again.

November of 2004 saw the beginnings of a new line up with a new look. With professional musos including a real keys player (these guys are hard to find), we saw the emergence of the new 80's Flashback. It's fresh and it’s new. The original show was good. This one is now even better.

Members in the new line up, so far, have been Matthew Hollier, Chris Komorowski, Pete McDonald, David Grant, Wayne Curran, Michael Walker, Nicholas Woodford and James Flood. We’ve also had some ring ins from time to time. These being, Wayne D’Chong (resident all round musician and best sound guy in the world, apart from Andrew Robinson of course), Greg Agar and Steve McPherson.

It’s now 2011. The current band has been performing in and around Sydney now for 7 years at both public venues and at many private parties and corporate functions. The band has performed at schools, function centres, parks, private homes and of course pubs and clubs.
